Opening remarks by Mr. Michael Møller, United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

As the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is on the agenda of every actor in Geneva, I am pleased to let you know that the SDG Lab in my Office is now fully functioning. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the purpose of the Lab, it is a new unit within my Office focused on supporting actors in Geneva dedicated to delivering the 2030 Agenda. The SDG Lab does this through convening and connecting, creating avenues for knowledge exchange, showing and amplifying best practices, and fostering innovation and collaboration.

Diese Kooperationsveranstaltung des Bundeskanzleramts, des Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst und der Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft am 10. Oktober 2017 ist EU-Förderungen aus Anlass des Europäischen Jahres des Kulturerbes 2018 gewidmet (Creative Europe, Europe for Citizens, Horizon 2020).

This year, the Geneva World Humanitarian Day commemoration is organized in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).  It will include a panel discussion on “Violence against health care and its implications for affected populations, humanitarian workers and aid”, followed by an award ceremony organized by the Sergio Vieira de Mello Foundation.
