World Environment Day - June 6th 2017

The United Nations, aware that the protection and improvement of the human environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world, designated 5 June as the World Environment Day. The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated all over the world.

Open call for written contributions to the 2017 ECOSOC Integration Segment

The Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs is pleased to announce an open call for written contributions to the 2017 ECOSOC Integration Segment for NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC.

The 2017 ECOSOC Integration Segment will take place from 8 to 10 May 2017 at UNHQ in New York under the theme "Making eradication of poverty an integral objective of all policies: what will it take?"

Together, all these actors work for peace, rights and well-being, touching the lives of individuals across the world. Geneva Peace Week offers an opportunity to connect and highlight the work of these actors and to expand the space for dialogue about building peace and resolving conflict in Geneva and beyond.
